Noon Whistle Vote

MainStreet Steamboat Springs is trying to raise money to have a noon whistle reinstalled downtown.  For many decades, every day, a siren sounded at noon.  In November of 2008, the siren was removed for safety reasons, removing another bit of our heritage.  There are those who truly miss the signalling of the noon hour and started a fund to get the noon "whistle" reinstated.  With your help, we can do it.

A new, more appealing "steamboat" sound would sound at noon from a new location, at the base of Howelsen Hill next to the skateboard park.  You have the opportunity to choose which sound will be broadcast.  Take a minute to vote below.

We need to raise between $5,000 and $15,000, depending on the type of whistle we can afford.  Currently we have $1000.  We hope to resurrect the "whistle" in spring of  2010.
